Nine

I had the fantastic opportunity to photograph the rehearsals for Leah Glenn Dance Theatre’s production of Nine - A Tribute to the Little Rock Nine. 

Such a moving and beautiful fusion of dance, poetry, and visual art that reflects on this country’s deep history of racism and the struggles of young students of color within educational institutions and American society as a whole by portraying the story of the nine African American students who courageously enrolled in the all white Little Rock Central High School in 1957 following Brown v. Board of Education.

I am very grateful for this opportunity to capture the movement and emotion of these exceptionally talented dancers and witness the dedication to creating such an awe inspiring performance.
